How to Remove the List.Exe Virus

1) "Spybot Search and Destroy" is a freeware option you can download via the link in Resources. Download it and begin the installation process. When prompted if you would like to turn on "Tea Timer", select "No," as "Tea Timer" can use up valuable system resources. Update the program and perform a "Search and Destroy" by following the on-screen instructions and allowing the program to find infected files. "Spybot S&D" has an excellent reputation in the world of anti-malware and should locate most infections.

2) Download and install Malwarebytes (see link in Resources). Perform a "Full Scan" to ensure that Malwarebytes checks all the files in your computer. Do this by choosing "Perform Full Scan" when prompted, and letting the program scan all files. The program will allow you to delete the offending programs, including List.exe files, once they are found.

3) AVG Free is a third freeware option that can assist with the removal of "List.exe" type infections. AVG features active protection, which means that if you already have an anti-virus installed that failed to locate the infection, uninstall it by accessing "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel. Anti-virus programs are notorious for fighting each other if installed and running simultaneously.

4) Download "AVG Free" via the link in Resources. Download it and begin the installation process. When prompted if you would like to install the "AVG Security Toolbar", select "No," as this option can also use up system resources. Update the program and perform a full scan. When the scan has completed, select "Remove all unhealed infections". List.exe should be part of the list.
